More fun in KC

I like the City life! So many things (free, too) right out your front door and lots of accessible shopping, it's definitely fun to be so close to so many amenities. I hope I don't get too spoiled...

Today and yesterday we didn't have a real agenda, but we did have a few things we knew we wanted to do or accomplish. We hit up the stores we needed and then enjoyed an afternoon treat before heading back. One stop I enjoyed was Whole Foods Market. Daughter will be thrilled as I was able to find her an acceptable treat that fits into her dietary restrictions. Just hope it's tasty yummy for her. Trigger netted a new set of bibs out of the deal to boot!
Today we headed out early to get a view and feel for a water race. It was a sight to see all the paddlers. Only two SUPs on the water and lots and lots of canoes and kayaks. A fifty mile paddle is not for the faint of heart and the open water was quite swift, not sure I would be ready for that type fun but I think MiRV is itching to give it a go. I was thankful for a java stop after that before we made our way to the City Market area.

At the market!
Our first snack of the day...

The sights, sounds and smells were incredible. I was in heaven, while there were several people it wasn't overly crowded. We started off sharing a nice spinach, feta and onion pita pocket which was really good and the tzatziki was like lickyourplateclean yummy good! Looking at all the booths was fun we bought a few tomatoes and red pepper along with a bit of cilantro. The cilantro was dried, I can't wait to try it in my cooking. I never have it when I want it and buying it fresh is lovely but it always seems to spoil before i can use it all so I am trying the dried. The spice booth was incredible!! I could have gone overboard but I restrained myself...hope I am not sorry for not buying a few others as the prices were amazing!

Funny that MiRV thinks we could start a new thing and run a little railroad business at gigs like this. He was pretty excited about this and quite serious. Me, notsomuch! Can you imagine the liability insurance needed. Though it was cute to watch and the children seriously loved it and there was a line to ride.
Neat little exhibit of trains running in Union Station

We continued on in the downtown area and decided to take a look inside Union Station. We got a great view the other day while at the Liberty Memorial but getting inside was nice. Loved the train displays, fun to look at and brings out the child in everyone to see choo choo trains! We enjoyed walking around the old station before making our way on to our temporary abode.

So many neat old signs in the downtown area!

The weather is gorgeous right now, so sunny and vivid, bright blue skies. Though I did hear the weatherman allude to potential for severe weather in the upcoming week...I don't like severe weather! Hope it goes around or moves through without much punch. While we aren't doing much but hanging out and taking in the local sights it's wearing me out. No naps as that would mess up my nighttime sleep but I have been worn out when we get home! Gonna need to get back in ROADA and get our lives back on track. Well, not sure how accurate that is as I don't think we have a real track anymore. We just come and go and do as we please and let the wind blow us to and fro whenever we like. It's not a bad deal!

KC Touring

While house sitting in the Kansas City area we decided to do some touristy things. Living in an area sometimes you don't take advantage of all the things there are to offer. I feel that way about KC. Growing up in this area we came to the city to eat, shop and see a ballgame. We went to many, many Royals games back in the George Brett days! As a youngster we often had our school field trips to the City. While in college just to the East we came to the City to eat and shop. In more recent years I have been coming to the City for the doctors and hospitals. I do know KC is way more than eating and shopping.

Well, we do look good on one of these things...

MiRV liked this one best...it's a Sportster Forty-Eight

Today we went up North to take a tour of the Harley Davidson factory. It was really neat and complimented all that we learned and saw in Milwaukee a couple years ago at the HD Museum. Putting this street bikes together is quite high tech as you can imagine and there are lots of robotic helpers but the real assembly is by humans and all the non-human assembly is re-checked by real live humans. It was amazing to see this factory at work. To hear all the facts about the plant, the people, the bikes. It was well worth the drive all the way out by the airport and really nice they do this free tour. At the end we got to keep our visitor badge and write a postcard that they will mail for us! Pretty cool!
Liberty Memorial

We headed South after our tour to check out the Liberty Memorial area. This is also where the Federal Reserve Bank is. We parked and walked up to the memorial which has been proudly gracing the area since 1921. A nice tribute to those who have served.

 Great views!

After a much enjoyed stop at Starbuck's we headed on South. What I didn't enjoy was the traffic. We lingered a bit too long at Starbuck's and had to drive back with rush hour traffic. Not my idea of enjoyable but thankfully there were no total standstills even though there was heavy traffic congestion it kept moving for the most part! Safely back and tucked in for the night; it's gonna be a low key evening. And if you are wondering, I miss my bed and Roada!!

Trigger Days!

Oh good heavens I can't get enough of this little one! Since it had been just over two weeks since we had seen our girl we decided a road trip was in order. Life is good when you are holding a sweet baby girl! Love her cute smiles!

She has been with us for TWO months...doesn't seem possible.

Love, loved, loved our time with her. A few appointments in the City plus a little apartment sitting gig has us tied up for a few weeks but we will see her again soon when she comes to the City in just a few more days.

Thursday Thoughts - Unknown

My friend posted this comment on her wall a few weeks back, she is a pastor's wife...she is wise, funny and all things you would never dream of a pastor's wife.

The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply.

Fire it up!

While it was a spur of the moment decision, it did work well. The day started with coffee and a thought that the Neighbor's yard needed to be mowed. Mowing commenced and before long it was decided we might as well burn the brush pile. A quick call to the city confirmed there was no burn ban and a second call to the non-emergency fire department got us rolling onward.

Dryer lint is the very best fire starter. We had a nice collection of said dryer lint and got the pile going quite quickly...in fact, just as the breeze was kicking up. I had a few moments of, "ohmyohmy, I certainly hope this doesn't continue" and it thankfully didn't. I was on brush pile duty for the remainder of the day while MiRV finished up mowing and even headed off to do a little fence repair down South. It was a lovely day to be outside. I even got a little unintentional sunshine on my nose!

We have not been quite so busy with tasks as of late, it's been nice but we know it will pick up now that the weather is more springlike everyday. MiRV has been getting some nice long runs in while I have been doing a bit of walking. We are also going to be taking in a few ballgames with the Littles, in fact we will head to Lamar for a scrimmage tomorrow night! There are also a few trips north to make :)

All that fresh air, I am planning on a good night's sleep.

Don't cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it.

I don't know who said it but it has that ring of truth to it.

LITTLE Fun

Even though we are "Neighbors" we often don't see them at home for days on end. They are busy Littles; with school, ball, gymnastics, etc so they ask us to please be home one night this week when they would also be home. It was a beautiful afternoon/evening, I mean just perfect weather wise so we made the most of it. There was lots of activity going on. Scooters were out, chalk, balls, trampoline time, giggles and laughs, running and jumping, it was a perfect evening! There was even pizza for dinner. Can life get much better? I really don't think so!
Our chalk art...scenic views along with self portraits!

Little bit of pitching practice and catch happened. Just call me Lefty!

We also got to share a walk with this crew. It's the Little Things that make life so good.
