The HANDFUL

Rain, rain, rain and then more rain, then snow; oh, and let's not forget that terrific wind along with the beautiful upper 60s one day then cool and in the 30s the next. Little sunny but cool then dreary, dreary, dreary. Yep, Spring has sprung in the Midwest. Not a complaint just reporting observational information cause I believe this is much better then hot and buggy! Our trees are starting to bud, I've seen some tulip and daffodil leaves starting to poke through. I started my own cilantro and basil in a recycled milk jug so here's hoping that pans out. I'd like to get some veggies going just not sure in what manner I want to do it. And, unfortunately, my thumbs are not green!

I have not seen the bluebird around lately but gracious we have had plenty of robins and black birds in the yard along with sparrows. With all the rain it seems they are enjoying a worm smorgasboard out there. Won't be too long we will need to get the hummingbird feeders out. Really hoping the bluebirds show back up!

Pretty much just life going on as of late. It makes for long days and short nights on some occasions but that is what makes it life. Gonna enjoy it!

The HANDFUL

We've had a houseguest this week...thought she was going home today but she's having too much fun so she's ask for another day! What a week we've had. Cousins have been over and we've also been to see them, Aunts and Uncles have been by as well as Grands and she even got to see the 4H project bovine "Cash". We've played outside everyday even on the blustery days. GraveDigger has seen a lot of action as have the balls, paintbrushes and swingset! She's been spoiled with her favorite foods of meatloaf, fish sticks, french fries, waffles and pizza, oh my. We've also been shopping, cow cruising, horse hunting and a Sonic visit. Only disappointment has been no ostriches! We also did some testing out of her "sleeping arrangement" in ROADA as we are planning to take her with us this year...stay tuned for how that pans out. We are certainly hoping for travel time soon!

It's gonna be awfully quiet around here when you are gone...already planning another MO visit with her but for now she is ready to return to the Northland and her momma and daddy. She has had a great visit for sure and many memories are etched in my brain for sure as well as hers I hope!

The HANDFUL

It's been a good week! Finally able to go North and see the Bee; celebrated her belated birthday along with LaLa's. It was a whole birthday palooza week and no one minded. She was overjoyed with a Barbie house and a guitar! What fun if you are F.I.V.E. Great memories.

Oh, and let's not forget Birthday donuts for LaLa!

There was also sledding and a trip to our new faavorite Mexican restaurant (maybe even two visits). LOTS of Barbie playing, coloring, singing with guitar accompaniment, game playing and movie watching (current fav is Ferdinand).  And let's not forget there was cake, white cake and cupcakes, there were also cupcakes. Chocolate and vanilla! YUM! We like cake!

She's a HANDFUL today!

 F.I.V.E.

She is five...wow, just wow. She woke to a surprise unicorn table setting. After some gift opening she enjoyed her favorite Eggo waffles for breakfast. Can't get much better for a newly turned five year old. I'm sure the rest of the day will be all about her as it should be when it's your birthday!

In five short years she has added so much to our world. We are thrilled to be able to be a part of her world and watch as she continues to thrive. Her curiousity is something to observe, we love to just see what she comes up with next. Her imagination is topnotch from being a unicorn to a kitty cat (much to my chagrin). She entertains herself with Barbies, farm animals, crayons (the hours she puts into coloring is astounding), gymnastics, stuffed animals, yoga, puzzles, games and so much more!

As of late she has been all over tackling math with her daddy. She's also spent a fair amount of time in the snow since she does love it and they've had PLENTY! The igloos she and her daddy build are pretty impressive as well. She also took a turn snowboarding off her deck as did her mamma and daddy, seriously! You know you have a lot of snow when you can snowboard off your back deck; that, and a pretty nice slope into your backyard!! In additon she's not bad help when there is scooping to do with her own snow shovel no less. All Northern girls need a snow shovel, amIright?

Well, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy birthday our little BEE! We love you.

The HANDFUL

Our granddaughter, the BEE, is turning FIVE this month. We've been telling her and her cousins she's going to be a whole handful on her next birthday for quite sometime now. So it just seems natural that it would become the name of my weekly prompt for blogging this year.  Start watching for The HANDFUL to make its appearance after her birthday as that will be my weeklyish postings from here on out for 2021.

THIRTY like B.I.G. 30...

It is unreal to me that my baby is thirty, like unbelievably real. I mean I am only 25 so how can she be 30? Right?

Oh well, it's been a memorable thirty years for sure. And now that she is a mother herself I think she undertands some of the parenting hurts and issues we hinted at as she was coming up. Parenting is not for the faint of heart. Nor might I add is aging. It is fun to see your adult child adult, it is also sometimes hard. Taking a step back is hard but necessary so they can be their own person. You pray they are honest, kind, caring people and you know you did your best to model this behavior for them. She was raised in an environment where service to others was expected, kindness was the norm and caring was a given.

We are proud of the human she is. We hope she continues to exude truth through her words, show kindness to others and assist the less fortunate when possible. This world needs good people and we try to be the kind of people who make our world better and that is the hope we have for her and her little family. It's a big one moving into the 3's but one you can do with class. You go girl!

Most recent photo I have :/

I hope you got to sleep in this morning, that you were treated special by the other two and that you didn't dread the BIG 30 too badly. It's just a number...ask your dad! He's facing double nickle next month!

Happy New Year 2021!

UnFOURgettably Four will be on hiatus until February when she turns FIVE, yes, you read that right, five. I will decide between now and then what will be the new postings if any at all. Until then we will make do with random post as things seem postworthy.

Our NYE was quiet, how about yours? I spent the afternoon at my folks visitng and celebrating my second mom's 79th trip around the sun. Not a lot of fanfare since we are trying to keep everyone healthy. There are some with colds and snuffy noses or sore throats  so the traffic was limited to the healthy ones. Glad I am one of the so called healthy ones and praying it remains as such. In the days ahead we will face some new roads with her as unforseen health news presented on Christmas Adam.  Speaking of Christmas Adam have you heard of it? I had not, but now that I know about it, I love it. It is the day before Christmas Eve; Adam came before Eve so it is Christmas Adam! I like it so much and we are totally calling it and celebrating it from here on out.

We are thrilled to have made it into another year. Personally, hoping 2021 is not a repeat of 2020. But as usual we will roll with whatever comes our way. MiRV is researching and doing a litle a little trip planning already. He would like to get a trip or two in the books this year. Hopefully, we will be able to take the Bee with us at least once. Of course, just holding fast to see what comes our way in the next several weeks.

Stay safe, stay well!
