Sensationally Six

The 60th birthday Kansas trip, which we dubbed the "water tower tour" was a success. You only turn 60 once and she wanted to go back to her roots. We not only took the back roads we took our time and enjoyed a slow laid back pace. It was quite a good trip. We also hit the birth towns of the other Kansans.

No pic of her hospital because it is now apartments! But still showing up for Kinsley.

Representing Phillipsburg and Topeka!

Then we made it back so we could join in on the B. I. G. 2 celebration! FUN stuff!!!

Daniel Tiger is his favorite!

And let's not forget Father's Day...it was a bit of a weepy one for me. However, we still went out to lunch and had ice cream to celebrate MiRV. The Northern girl rocked a tournament over the weekend. They did well and she had a good time, she is making lots of improvements since playing with this team.

The water towers across small town America are neat to see and we made a point of looking for them in each little town we went through. I leave you with a small sampling of the ones we saw...

Gonna be a hot week, stay cool out there...

Sensationally Six

Company for the double birthday was here this past week...we did the rodeo and partied at the farm to celebrate our newest O.N.E. year old and 14 year old. Ice cream cake and confetti cake, lots of balloons and yummy food. The rodeo was a hoot with our Northern girl who "rode" on her parents laps most of the night.

Rodeo babies getting some love!

BIRTHDAY GIRLS!

And the stone has been set at the cemetery. It was nice to see it placed but also hard to see it there...

We are actually on the road today headed up to see a ballgame for our Northern girl. She will be surprised when she finds out we are there.  We will see her a few days before heading back to MO.

Sensationally Six

Bit quiet at the Meadow lately...which is okay with me. MiRV is getting a little itchy though. Have a few things in June coming down the pipe and then we should be able to getabout and take a jaunt. The days are growing longer; and hotter so not sure where the adventure will be but stay tuned it's bound to be good! I think I mentioned we have one who wants to stowaway and go with us again this year.

Oh, there is a bit of news to share! We have a new wee one in the group. He arrived just today. We are all excited to welcome the newest little guy to the tribe. He and momma are doing well.

Sensationally Six

Tomorrow another birthday happens...

I'm not sure how festive it will be since we are ice/snow bound but we will get a celebration in at some point! It's only a number but we are both now over half way through the 5's! Somedays he really feels every single year as he moves on past the aches and pains to make it through the day. The military certainly was a good gig until you realize you paid an awful lot with your body to do all that they expected.

He's competitive, competent, capable, opinionated, loyal, passionate and a good husband, father and LaLa. He spoils us all and we only think of him getting better, not older! Happy Birthday MiRV! Hopefully you will get some road time in this year.

Sensationally Six

Can we even believe we have a six year old granddaughter? No, we certainly cannot...but here we are 16 February 2022 and we do! She is crazy about horses, mermaids, Elsa from Frozen and unicorns. She is tender hearted yet a bit bossy. She loves to draw in detail and color. She enjoys cheese, a lot along with dill pickle chips, strawberries, pickled okra and pepperoni pizza. This girl also loves snow and playing in it and this is good since she lives in where they get a good amount of that white stuff.

We were thrilled to be able to be with her for her celebration this year as last year weather prevented us from being with her on her actual day.

Looking forward to a sensationa year with this SIX year old!

The HANDFUL

It's been a good week! Finally able to go North and see the Bee; celebrated her belated birthday along with LaLa's. It was a whole birthday palooza week and no one minded. She was overjoyed with a Barbie house and a guitar! What fun if you are F.I.V.E. Great memories.

Oh, and let's not forget Birthday donuts for LaLa!

There was also sledding and a trip to our new faavorite Mexican restaurant (maybe even two visits). LOTS of Barbie playing, coloring, singing with guitar accompaniment, game playing and movie watching (current fav is Ferdinand).  And let's not forget there was cake, white cake and cupcakes, there were also cupcakes. Chocolate and vanilla! YUM! We like cake!

She's a HANDFUL today!

 F.I.V.E.

She is five...wow, just wow. She woke to a surprise unicorn table setting. After some gift opening she enjoyed her favorite Eggo waffles for breakfast. Can't get much better for a newly turned five year old. I'm sure the rest of the day will be all about her as it should be when it's your birthday!

In five short years she has added so much to our world. We are thrilled to be able to be a part of her world and watch as she continues to thrive. Her curiousity is something to observe, we love to just see what she comes up with next. Her imagination is topnotch from being a unicorn to a kitty cat (much to my chagrin). She entertains herself with Barbies, farm animals, crayons (the hours she puts into coloring is astounding), gymnastics, stuffed animals, yoga, puzzles, games and so much more!

As of late she has been all over tackling math with her daddy. She's also spent a fair amount of time in the snow since she does love it and they've had PLENTY! The igloos she and her daddy build are pretty impressive as well. She also took a turn snowboarding off her deck as did her mamma and daddy, seriously! You know you have a lot of snow when you can snowboard off your back deck; that, and a pretty nice slope into your backyard!! In additon she's not bad help when there is scooping to do with her own snow shovel no less. All Northern girls need a snow shovel, amIright?

Well, happy, happy, happy, happy, happy birthday our little BEE! We love you.

The HANDFUL

Our granddaughter, the BEE, is turning FIVE this month. We've been telling her and her cousins she's going to be a whole handful on her next birthday for quite sometime now. So it just seems natural that it would become the name of my weekly prompt for blogging this year.  Start watching for The HANDFUL to make its appearance after her birthday as that will be my weeklyish postings from here on out for 2021.

THIRTY like B.I.G. 30...

It is unreal to me that my baby is thirty, like unbelievably real. I mean I am only 25 so how can she be 30? Right?

Oh well, it's been a memorable thirty years for sure. And now that she is a mother herself I think she undertands some of the parenting hurts and issues we hinted at as she was coming up. Parenting is not for the faint of heart. Nor might I add is aging. It is fun to see your adult child adult, it is also sometimes hard. Taking a step back is hard but necessary so they can be their own person. You pray they are honest, kind, caring people and you know you did your best to model this behavior for them. She was raised in an environment where service to others was expected, kindness was the norm and caring was a given.

We are proud of the human she is. We hope she continues to exude truth through her words, show kindness to others and assist the less fortunate when possible. This world needs good people and we try to be the kind of people who make our world better and that is the hope we have for her and her little family. It's a big one moving into the 3's but one you can do with class. You go girl!

Most recent photo I have :/

I hope you got to sleep in this morning, that you were treated special by the other two and that you didn't dread the BIG 30 too badly. It's just a number...ask your dad! He's facing double nickle next month!

UnFOURgettably 4 Friday!

Another week has come and gone. It's been a week that has had ups and downs, highs and lows. We have made it through. We also celebrated a birthday this week and we plunged into a new month. Lots going on, lots to do and life is busy. It is also draining, sad, happy and satisfying. We are sharing struggles, enjoying wins, helping out, perhaps even butting in but all good.

Singing Happy Birthday to the SuperTrooper!

We have much to be thankful for...next week we are off to OK for a niece's wedding!

Stay safe, stay well!

UnFOURgettably 4 Friday!

We celebrated this guy's birthday this week. Good thing it was early in the week as one of us has been "down" with the crud. It's not pretty around here and I am so thankful we bought the BIG pack of tissues at the warehouse store cause I may use every single one of them at this rate. He enjoyed lunch out at his favorite hamburger place. Then he was also treated to cereal bars which is another favorite. Glad he is mostly over the crud but not so glad he shared...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MiRV!

UnFOURgettably 4!

Our granddaughter is FOUR! We have had birthday palooza since Wednesday. And today she wanted to come home with us...so she did. We celebrated all day long. Breakfast with cousins and aunts, back home for a little celebration with daddy along with a pink cupcake then off to MO with us. We stopped at Starbuck's for a pink cake pop then dinner at Cracker Barrel where she had pancakes! Ended the evening on the couch with a little Octonauts. I think she had a pretty perfect day. This was after a big bowling bash yesterday. It's been a celebration palooza for sure!

This is from the bowling bash day...

 Filet-o-Fish Sandwich pre bowling lunch

 Pizza post bowling dinner

What a great birthday she has had! Looking forward to another year of loving and watching her learn and grow. She is a joy.

Happy, Happy

Our girl is on her last year of the 2's. Hard to believe. It seems like just yesterday you made our twosome a threesome and now here you are a mom yourself with a nearly 4 year old. Unreal. We love you and your little family.

You are a great mom. You continue to grow in your role as a homemaker. You are the maker of the memories for your little crew. Memories are good, keep making them. Don't get sidetracked, those two are your world, your responsibility; keep making it happen. You will not regret any efforts in that department, promise.

You make us proud. You keep doing you. Somedays may be messy but it's your you so do it as best you can,

Enjoy your day, your year. We love you!

Wild & Three Thursday!

Happy Birthday to our Patriach...

He's 89 years young tomorrow. Complains a little; mostly, about what he can't do anymore...but we tell him he is doing great for where he's at! Sometimes he agrees, sometimes he doesn't. For his age though he is seriously doing quite well IMO.

Sooooo Happy Birthday DAD!

We will do dinner when we return; until then hold down the fort!

He sure enjoys spending time with the great grands!

T.H.R.E.E.

And just like that she is T.H.R.E.E.

It wasn't a big splashy birthday party this year. She isn't a crowd kind of girl. So they kept it low key. She picked Sonic for lunch for the tater tots and then enjoyed "pink" cupcakes. She was excited over the presents sent by grandparents, aunts, cousins. Hard to believe she's three...but she certainly is.

Oh, and Wild & Three Thursday will make their appearance soon so stay tuned!

Happy Birthday Daughter!

Oh, me, oh, my...it is time again that we celebrate our daughter.

Happy Birthday!!!

As I have said before she is truly ONE OF A KIND. Hope you have a wonderful, full of love kind of day that makes you realize you are blessed beyond measure and loved more and more each year.

O.N.E.

Perfect love sometimes does not come until the first grandchild. ~Welsh Proverb

Can you believe she is ONE? Me neither...it has been a whirlwind. She is an incredible "little person". She LOVES being outside with the wind blowing in her face. She enjoys her pup dog (though there are battles brewing). She is loving and lovable. She is intensely inquisitive and quite the quick learner, she gets focused and must be re-directed to keep her out of "trouble". She is vocal. She has blue eyes. She's serious. She love, love, loves Peek-a-boo. She is walking, she is crawling, she is trying to run. She eats sweet potatoes, butternut squash and acorn squash; however, she loves "boob" the most! She is the bombdiggity and we feel incredibly blessed beyond measure to be called La and Be.

She was certainly interested in that cupcake! Momma did let her have an itty bitty taste of the frosting which she did not seem all that excited about.

Her momma had these words to say...

Without a doubt, this past year has been the best year of my life.
Because of you, I am a mom. Something I have always dreamed of being.
Because of you, I know the deepest meaning of love.
Because of you, I strive to be the best I can be.
Because of you, I feel complete.
my daughter, have changed my life in the absolute best way possible.
I read somewhere that having a child is like letting your heart walk around outside of your body.
That couldn’t be more true.
It’s amazing to see how much you have changed over the past year.
You went from an ittty bitty 6lb baby to a walking and talking one year old.
You went from sleeping away the day snuggled in my arms to climbing on me like I’m a jungle gym.
You went from reaching at objects on your play mat to learning how to wavy bye bye and give high fives.
You went from baby cooes to babbling to your first words, dada and mama.
You went from rolling, to crawling to walking!
You went from being a baby to being considered a toddler (even though you will always be my baby).

Club 5-0!

Happy Birthday to myMiRV, today he officially became a member of Club 5-0!

This guy exudes LIFE...and while I am often never (okay, maybe not never but you know) quite as adventurous as he is I enjoy doing life with him. Here's to an awesome day and I know without a doubt we will find a treat to celebrate YOUR 5-0 day!

Happy Birthday Daughter

We celebrate YOU today, you bring us immeasurable joy, pride and in some ways regret. We know we were not perfect parents, we should have done better, we tried, believe me, we tried. We failed in so many ways, yet we see you succeed despite our failings, you are such the love of our life, happy birthday to the Daughter who made us laugh, cry, and everything in between, you are our everything...we are so excited for the new adventures to come. I constantly struggled with wanting you to stay my little baby, our little girl forever, and also being excited about all of the amazingness you would be when you grew up...

Much love to our birthday girl! We will party together in the near future!

Thursday Thoughts

The Daughter has a birthday this week. While we won't be celebrating together we will be celebrating in spirit. She has reached another milestone. So proud of the woman she is and still continues to become. I pray for many more birthday celebrations to come for her and with her!

This seemed appropriate.

10 Things Your Mom Never Told You

1.  You made her cry...a lot.

2  She wanted the last piece of pie.

3.  It hurt.

4.  She was always afraid.

5.  She knows she's not perfect.

6.  She watched you as you slept.

7.  She carried you a lot longer than nine months.

8.  It broke her heart every time you cried.

9.  She put you first.

10. She would do it all again.
